LOS ANGELES — California Cadet Corps Alum, U.S. Army 2nd Lt. Jacob Lapin, reflects on his time spent in the California Cadet Corps, a California Military Department Task Force Torch youth program.
The CACC cultivates and promotes leadership, civic responsibility and academic excellence and encourages personal health and wellness while instilling basic military principles.
"I was really just impressed with how much responsibility is given to a high school freshman. You know, having to lead more than 30 people at a time potentially. And then as you go through the ranks, 9th grade, 10th grade, 11th grade, 12th grade - you learn these responsibilities; and you promote through the ranks; and you're given so much more responsibility... I could get that nowhere else."
